As I initially suspected when I received the invitation from the embassy, JC de Terry had something to do with my being chosen as he knows well how much I love eating/drinking/writing about Spanish wine and food.<br /><br />The MITEC/ICEX kindly sponsored me and the rest of the mission members (my wife not included, but we have friends in Barcelona, so she was fine the days I was busy) from the 20th evening until the morning of the 27th March.<br /><br />From there on in, until the 7th April, we were on our own. I rented a car in Bilbao, and we drove around northern Spain, then to Bordeaux, then back to Spain at our own pace - eating and drinking to our hearts' content all along.
