I do eat controlled amounts, and, due to my hypertension, drink in controlled amounts (as much as I can anyway).

As you know, I don't really exercise or diet. I guess it's because I almost never eat any form of fastfood or processed food or junk food? I also eat very little dessert, if any at all and am not very fond of sweets. See you tomorrow lunch!

Chinkee,

¡Viva La Tienda! Don't forget to coordinate with Miguel on your menu this time!

Ines,

Yes, I understand from Henry H. that you're his niece. Try Tony Soter's pinots. Pretty good.

Bluefrog,

I've tried a few Canadian chardonnays but they were - to put it as politely as I can - not to my taste. I've never tried Canadian reds, but those of my friends (whose tastes I trust) didn't care for them either - twice in a blind tasting, so no possible bias. I'd say stick to Inniskillin's icewine.

The '04 St-Jacques should be drinking already. If it isn't an off bottle, try decanting it for while. It will never be as open, ripe or fruit-forward as the '03 though. It's properly austere...that's what I prefer. The 2000 Siran is excellent.

Thanks re my spaghetti. It was definitely al dente, but, then, again, I've been making this for years....

Best to all,

NNoelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00877156455140431162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159578680459427485.post-18315420598263321202009-04-13T20:21:00.000+08:002009-04-13T20:21:00.000+08:00Hi Noel!I didnt know there is another canadian win...Hi Noel!

I didnt know there is another canadian wine in our market aside from Innskillin? Have you tried other Canadian wines and how are they? Im curious how are their reds and how come nobody distributes them here?

by the way, i tried the St. Jacques 2004, it's "closed" unlike the 2003. i dont know if it needs to lay down for a few more months so it will improve?

I got the Siran 2004 and 2005 but have not tried them yet. The fruit that went into her bourgogne 2004, the bottle that I served, were declassified fruit from vineyards under her ownership - pommard vignots, savigny narbantons, clos vougeot and clos de la roche. Yes, Marc's magret de canard is always good and a great backdrop for good reds as well.

Your parents don't drink? I was under the impression that your dad is Jos Cabarrus, am I mistaken? I was introduced to him several years ago by Miguel Aboitiz in a wine dinner of Jérome Philippon (at the Murano room of the Tower Club's Continental restaurant) and used to see him once in a while at other wine functions.

I think as recently as last year, I gave Henry Hagedorn a nice bottle of 2001 Châteauneuf-du-Pape for a steak dinner he was throwing in Punta Fuego and Henry told me your dad (and others) liked it.
